CE Mark Granted to Medicaroid’s Surgical Robotic System

Medicaroid Corporation has won CE Mark approval for the hinotori Surgical Robot System, a solution that features eight-axis operative arms that mimic a human’s limbs and move smoothly.

The hinotori was first approved for manufacturing and marketing in Japan in 2020 and subsequently launched domestically. It thereafter received regulatory approvals in Singapore in 2023 and Malaysia in 2024, and has been introduced at medical institutions in these regions. The hinotori expanded its Asia-Pacific footprint earlier this year with Vietnamese regulatory approval.

The hinotori’s arms’ motion reduces arm-to-arm or arm-to-assistant interference for smoother surgery. The system also features instrument support that is set by software. The workspace around the trocar is clear because the arms do not require docking, and the full high-vision 3D system provides a high-definition image to improve surgical accuracy. Moreover, the Surgeon Cockpit is ergonomically designed to optimize the physical characteristics of humans.

In parallel with advancing the business in Japan and the Asia-Pacific region, Medicaroid has been preparing for expansion into Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). To support this initiative, Medicaroid Europe GmbH was established in Germany in 2020 as a base of operations. With the acquisition of CE marking, Medicaroid can now market the hinotori in EU member states as well as certain non-EU countries.
